For the 2023-24 academic year, Manor Mead School Virginia Water has been allocated £7,038.
Summary of planned provision at Virginia Water
Explorative/Soft Play £1,150 Funds will allow our Key Stage 1 pupils to attend a local gymnastics facility. Pupils will have the opportunity to develop social communication and interaction skills, balance, coordination and motorial skills, reduce levels of anxiety, experience real life problem solving situations, build resilience and improve attention, focus and creativity skills. |
Level 3 Qualification Forest Schools Leader (including specific forest Schools first aider training) £1,200 Funds will enable Manor Mead School Virginia Water to train a teacher to become a qualified forest school leader. This will increase confidence knowledge and skills of all staff teaching, encouraging our pupils to engage regularly in physical activity and gain a broader experience of a range of physical activities. |
Traverse Wall Panels £900 A Traverse Wall will give our pupils a designated area to climb. Rock climbing is a very tactile activity. By accessing the wall panel, they are gaining exposure to movement and sensory input that can help in motor processing. Climbing helps develop the vestibular system and gives our pupil’s bodies proprioceptive input. The pressure they feel in their muscles and joints can help internal regulation and help develop self-regulation strategies. Improved self-regulation strategies, leads to improved self-esteem and great capacity for learning. |
Rebound Therapy Equipment and Training £3,788 Rebound Therapy is used to facilitate movement, promote balance, promote an increase or decrease in muscle tone, promote relaxation, promote sensory integration, improve fitness and exercise tolerance, and to improve communication skills. It is an ideal vehicle for cross curricular teaching activity; teaching numeracy, colour recognition, positioning (left, right, backwards, forwards, clockwise and anticlockwise), communication, and social awareness. Enabling our pupils to improve these skills leads to improved self-esteem and great capacity for learning
